COMBINING HERITAGE AND MODERNITY IN CENTRAL PARIS
Iconic piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons was looking to make a stunning 19th Century building its first showroom in Europe for 140 years.
The refurbishment needed to respect the heritage of the building and its Boulevard St Germain location while providing modern space with the specific environmental conditions from which to showcase its world-class instruments.
In addition to the showroom, the client requested rehearsal space for visiting artists and music academy students and a 50-seat recital hall.
Reid Brewin Architects combined the latest technical features with bespoke LED lighting arrangements, spiral staircases and glazed balustrades to create a bright, convivial place where musicians and the public can come together to celebrate great design, music and culture.
