Le Ca Trù est un genre musical que j’ai découvert au nord du Vietnam, dans le delta du Fleuve Rouge. Il m’a immédiatement frappé par sa finesse : une voix féminine d’une expressivité rare, portée par un luth à trois cordes, un tambour et une claquette en bois. Cet art, inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO depuis 2009, est profondément ancré dans l’identité de Hanoï, où il continue de vivre malgré les mutations rapides de la ville.
C’est dans cet esprit qu’a été construit, en 2017, le Phu Sa Lab : un lieu de création et d’expérimentation où les artistes de Ca Trù ont enfin trouvé leur place. Ce projet est né de ma rencontre avec Nhat Ly, le dirigeant du lieu, ancien circassien et auteur de nombreux spectacles célèbres du nouveau cirque vietnamien, qui mêle le bambou et la musique traditionnelle dans ses shows à travers le monde.
